Nicolas Chaudron is Managing Partner and leads Idinvest’s Smart City investments, the investment practice focusing on start-ups disrupting the energy, the transportation, and the building sectors. Nicolas led investments and represents Idinvest Partners in several companies including Ouicar (P2P car rental app, partially exited to SNCF), Forsee Power (smart batteries for electric mobility), and Sunfire (fuel cells). Nicolas has created and manages a network of industrial strategic partners (including leading players as EDF, PSA, Total, SNCF, Orange, Michelin or Air Liquide, corporates who develop strategic partnerships with start-ups, boosting their growth) and is involved in the global development of Idinvest, mainly by investing in US start-ups and by proactively supporting the international expansion of start-ups in Asia, particularly in China where he used to live and where he has more than 15 years of professional experience. Nicolas is a member of the strategy committee of the Cleantech Group. Prior to that, Nicolas focused mainly on Internet and Information technology sectors and led Idinvest Partners’ investments in Soamai (sold to ASG), Aveni, Median Technologies (IPO), Alchimedics (sold to Sinomed) and Telemarket (sold to Système U).
Before joining Idinvest Partners in 2001, Nicolas started his career in private equity at Europatweb, the internet investment company founded by Bernard Arnault. In addition to his involvement in the operational launch of Europatweb, he participated in various investments and led the one in Webhelp (now a 35,000 employees unicorn).
Nicolas is an alumnus of the Ecole normale supérieure (France) and of the Peking University (China). He holds a postgraduate degree in mathematics from Paris VI University, an MBA from the Collège des Ingénieurs, and an MBA from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), where he was a Palmer Scholar.< BACK TO JURYS LIST
